Getting Started with Ultra PDF Editor
Overview
Ultra PDF Editor runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts to create, no uploads to remote servers, and no desktop apps to install. Follow the steps below to start editing immediately.
1. Launch the editor
- Visit the editor page.
- Drag a PDF into the drop zone or click Upload PDF and select a file.
- Wait for the local loader to finish. Large files (25 MB+) may take a few seconds as the browser decodes them in memory.
2. Explore the workspace
- Viewport: Your active page renders in a pixel-perfect canvas powered by
pdf.js5.4.296. - Toolbar: Switch between Text, Draw, Highlight, and Redact tools. Tool controls update contextually.
- Navigation: Use arrow buttons or the keyboard to move between pages. Zoom presets keep annotations precise.
3. Add annotations
Text
- Select Text.
- Click anywhere on the page to drop a text box.
- Edit inline, adjust font size (12-18 pt), color, and apply bold or italic styling.
Draw
- Select Draw.
- Hold and drag to sign or sketch. Stroke width adapts to your zoom level so exported lines stay crisp.
Highlight or Redact
- Select Highlight or Redact.
- Click and drag to create a rectangle. Highlights export with subtle transparency; redactions flatten to solid black.
4. Export the PDF
- Click Export PDF or press
Cmd/Ctrl + S. - Ultra PDF Editor rebuilds each page with your annotations using
pdf-lib1.17.1. Text stays vector-based and selectable. - A download prompt appears with the suffix
-annotated.pdf.
Helpful keyboard shortcuts
Cmd/Ctrl + Z: Undo the most recent annotation on the current page.Cmd/Ctrl + S: Export the PDF.←/→: Navigate pages.Cmd/Ctrl + +orCmd/Ctrl + -: Zoom in and out.
